Brewing on your KBG

A Coffee Brewer for Coffee Lovers With a 5-Year Warranty For a Life Times Peace of Mind

1. Fast Brewing Time

Brew a half or full carafe in just 4–6 minutes. The KBG Select is simple to use and features a quiet brewing process, perfect for home or office.

2. Consistent Brewing Temperature

A copper boiling element rapidly heats water to the ideal range of 196°F–205°F and automatically shuts off when the reservoir is empty—ensuring perfect coffee, every time.

3. Precise Engineering

Water is lifted through the glass tube by the boiling action and delivered to the outlet arm, where it pulses evenly over the brew basket. This process mimics a manual pour-over, allowing the coffee grounds to bloom for optimal flavor.

4. Optimized Coffee Extraction

The cone-shaped brew basket steeps the grounds thoroughly, unlocking the coffee’s full flavor, aroma, and complexity with every brew.

5. Independent Hotplate Control

A selector switch adjusts the hotplate temperature between 175°F–185°F depending on your brew size. Both the brewer and hotplate automatically shut off after 100 minutes for safety and convenience.

What Makes Good Coffee?

It all comes down to the coffee solubles extracted into your water. The coffee industry defines four scientific benchmarks for perfectly brewed coffee—known as the Four T’s.

1. The Temperature

Brewing at a consistent 196°F–205°F is essential for extracting coffee solubles and unlocking full flavor.

2. The Time

A brew cycle of 4–6 minutes allows coffee to release its flavor without over- or under-extraction.

3. Agitation

Gentle agitation of the coffee grounds as water flows through ensures even saturation, maximising the precision of a manual pour-over.

4. Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)

This is the ratio of coffee solubles to water. The European Coffee Brewing Centre (ECBC) defines the ideal extraction yield as 18%–22%, and the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) calls this the “Golden Cup.”

Every Moccamaster brewer is engineered to hit this target—every single brew cycle.

How Coarsely Should I Grind my Coffee?

Grind Matters

For the perfect brew, use a medium-coarse grind — similar in texture to coarse sand or sea salt. If you’re buying pre-ground coffee, ask for this grind size to ensure optimal extraction. Most pre-ground coffees are too fine, which can affect flavour and performance.

Is There a Difference Between Filters?

Pure Taste Starts with the Right Filter

Moccamaster oxygen-whitened filters are designed to deliver a clean, crisp cup of coffee every time. Unlike brown unbleached filters that can impart a “cardboard” taste, or metal mesh filters that trap coffee oils and clog over time, our filters ensure optimal flow for balanced extraction — preventing bitterness and preserving the pure flavour of your brew.

When will I get my order?

We will work quickly to ship your order as soon as possible. Once your order has shipped, you will receive an email with further information. Delivery times vary depending on your location.

What Kind of Water Should I Use?

Choose the Right Water for the Perfect Brew

If it tastes good to drink, it will make great coffee. We recommend using fresh tap, filtered, or bottled water for the best flavour and performance. Avoid reverse osmosis or distilled water — their lack of minerals and slightly acidic pH can corrode the copper boiling element over time. Because every Moccamaster is built to last, using mineral-balanced water helps preserve your brewer’s longevity and ensures every cup tastes its best.
